Creating inclusive spaces

I bring my personal values into every space I enter, whether that be a classroom, a laboratory, or a conference. These values include aspects such as:

  • Black Lives Matter

  • Womyns Rights are Human Rights

  • Trans Women are Women

  • No Human is Illegal

  • Love is Love

  • We are on Stolen Land

  • Respect Pronouns

Some trainings that I have completed that further aligns with my values:

  • UndocuAlly: Through CU’s Center for Inclusion and Social Change, this training provides students, staff and faculty who want to learn more about how to support DACA and ASSET students.

  • Mental Health First Aid: From National Council for Mental Well-Being, this is a skills-based training course that teaches participants about mental health and substance-use issues.

  • Open Educational Resources Training: Through OER Network, trains teaching staff about the benefits of OER, discovering OER resources, and the broadening of OER as an option for courses

  • Universal Design for Learning: Via CU’s Center for Teaching and Learning, this workshop provides primary knowledge, models best practices, and offers implementation tips for the classroom

  • Overdose Prevention & Response: Via University of Maine, this training aims to educate participants on the opioid crisis, harm reduction strategies, and the use of Narcan to reverse overdoses
